Hey everyone!
My boyfriend and I are starting out of a bicycle tour from Portland to HWY 101 to San Francisco starting June 9th. Have any of you have done the ride before? Any advice? This is our first time.

Looks pretty detailed and was recently updated I think... there are also a few really great youth hostels along the coast that give preferential reservations to bicyclists... check out:

Sat, May 19, 2007 - 6:42 PMI've done most of it. One thing that I remember is that the highway between Portland and Cannon Beach is pretty intense. It was raining when we did it and there was plenty of fast traffic and little shoulder on a lot of it. It was also pretty difficult to find a place to camp...we came from Cannon Beach and I think we just ended up staying in a hotel on the outskirts of Portland. If you go that way I would try to do it in one day if you can.

I think am going to go a more southerly route from portland towards Beaver instead of Cannon Beach but that still may just be the case for me. -
