In december I flew Alitalia from Barcelona to San Francisco.
I had No checked baggage other than my bicycle which weighed 13kg, less than the 20 kg alloted for checked baggage. It was wrapped in plastic bags and compacted nicely, front wheel off, handlebars strapped to top tube, etc.
The STILL CHARGED ME 225 USD to fly my bike home - bastards.
the only other airline that charged me on my recent RTW bike trip was China Southern, on a flight from Beijing to Kashgar. But the cost then was like, 20 USD.
