Colorado to the Grand Canyon in October

I have from September 28 to October 25 to do anything I want. I'm hoping to do a tour down to the Grand Canyon and bike the rim. Some bike touring friends of mine said this is the absolute best time to do it. But I need a biking buddy. If you or anyone you know is interested, please let me know. Or if you have any tips or suggestions if you've done this ride before, I'd love to hear them.
